Tonight was a busy night, a family birthday, pack meeting for the scouts and working in the church garden. My personal feeling is that we all enjoyed the day it was fun, exciting and we were busy. But after all of that scheduled time on the way home we just stopped for 15 minutes at the tadpole pond. I hope that every child knows what a tadpole is. The sun had gone down and the mosquitos were out but we had the nets in the car and the boys were ready. They had a bucket and it is really pretty simple, you use a net to strain the tadpole out of the water and put it in the bucket. I told the boys to look at the moon it was the smallest sliver I had ever seen and as my son looked he slipped and went down into the mud. It was so fun that the mud didn't matter, a shower only takes a minute when you get home. We caught about 15 tadpoles. The joy that my boys received by stopping at this pond is beyond measure. On the way home, my son said thanks Dad. That meant so much to me. All of the other things we did tonight could not surpass the feelings that were felt at the tadpole pond. When was the last time you had a little unscheduled time with your family? What do you think your family will remember the most, a movie or a simple trip to the mountains? Be involved in your childs life, take the time. I promise you will not regret it.
